Rough Scaled Snakes are one of the more venomous snakes that are located here in South East Queensland. They favour areas of higher altitude however populations exist in lower down areas where the habitat is favourable. These snakes primarily feed on frogs and rodents, and are commonly encountered around houses on warm nights after some rain. This snake is known to be particularly arboreal at times, and can be found travelling through thick, low lying bushes. After each breeding season, pregnant females give birth to between 5-12 live young.

It’s important to realise that many species of snake can vary in colour, pattern and size. This often makes it very hard to make a positive identification of the snake. You should always assume that a snake is highly venomous, keep your family and pets at a safe distance and call a Gold Coast snake catcher.
